about
Afro-soul artist KAR33M provides insight into the reality faced by a multitude of Africans on his new single "Party In Lagos." Enduring the tyranny of political leaders who continue to devalue their citizens, the track is an ambient, yet powerful protest song that aims to spark an overdue call to action. “Our political leaders are people claiming personal ownership of the resources that belong to the people. So when I say we are 'on their matter,' [throughout the song] that means we are awake to the injustices that we see and there is work being done to make a change,” KAR33M states.
lyrics
[Intro]
Party in Lagos, drinks in Miami
That’s how you be moving and leaving you spending it straight as it’s coming
[Hook 2]
On their matter
On their matter
On their, on their, on their matter
On their matter
On their matter
On their, on their, on their matter
[Verse 1]
Party in Lagos & Living in LA
Moving to New York and building in Paris
Kids in Barbados with eggs and potatoes
You living the good life and ruling in EKO
The people you’re ruling got nothing to eat
See everyday people are dying in heat
But man no be preacher cause I gotta eat
You keep on ruling I’ll stay on my feet
Watch for my people I’ll help them to lead
Keep them in focus I’ll teach them to breathe
Growing and glowing ain’t no more defeat
I’ll give em the hope, all I wish that you know as you
[Hook]
Party in Lagos, drinks in Miami
That’s how you be moving and leaving you spending it straight as it’s coming
Party in Lagos (oh oh)
Drink in Miami ( Aye aye)
That’s how you be moving and leaving you spending it straight as it’s coming
[Hook 2]
On their matter
On their matter
On their, on their, on their matter
On their matter
On their matter
On their, on their, on their matter
[Breakdown]
Oh oh oh oh
Who no know now make you know
Oh oh oh oh
All your actions shall be known
Oh oh oh oh
Country fighting all it’s own
Oh oh oh oh
Who no know now make you know
[Hook 2]
On their matter
On their matter
On their, on their, on their matter
On their matter
On their matter
On their, on their, on their matter
[Hook]
